Even though it was a little blustery this afternoon (-21C windchill), we had a great time with our outdoor learning buddies in Ms. Petersen’s Grade 1 class. We talked about how if you dress for the cold and keep active, you can actually be comfortable in weather like this. We had a great afternoon today taking part in the ‘Chef for a Day’. Thanks to the Canadian Produce Marketing Association, I️ was provided with recipes and gift cards to go and buy the groceries for today’s lesson, where we talked about the importance of eating enough fruits and vegetables, and how easy and delicious it can be! This week, all of the students at BWCS spent time writing about a specific topic (K-5 were given one topic, while 6-8 students were given another). Our topic was ‘I like Fall because...’, and students were given two 30-minute sessions to write and edit their pieces. We did two stations - one where we played Compassball (it's like basketball, but using compass directions), and one where you held a compass and you used it to direct yourself to North, South, East, and West.
