The latest from our class Instagram account - Procedural writing: whole-class write

Yesterday, we all started writing a procedure together on something we do everyday: brushing our teeth. Ms. Fazenda brushed her teeth while the students watched her, and then they worked together to start writing the procedure. #latergram via Instagram http://ift.tt/2foMdTQ

The latest from our class Instagram account - Procedural writing: teacher examples

As part of our continuing work on procedural writing, Ms. Fazenda and I have been modeling procedural writing for our students by writing about things that we are experts in: Ms. Fazenda wrote about cleaning the degu cage in her classroom, and I wrote about how to compete in the sport of triathlon. via Instagram http://ift.tt/2e7TC5A

The latest from our class Instagram account - Procedural writing: creating criteria

We have continued working on Procedural Writing with Ms. Fazenda's class over the past few days. On Friday, we watched some how-to videos, and today we looked at some how-to books. Then, we talked about what these procedures had in them, and created our own criteria for the procedural writing our classes will be doing together. via Instagram http://ift.tt/2efBOpK

The latest from our class Instagram account - Procedural writing: making sandwiches

This week, we've started learning about procedural writing with Ms. Fazenda's class. The first task the students had was to write a procedure on how to make a peanut butter sandwich. Then, Ms. Fazenda and I attempted to make sandwiches (using a nut-free substitute for peanut butter, of course!) using these instructions, with some hilarious results (see lower left photo), in order to illustrate the importance of having clear and concise instructions. After that, with everyone working together, we wrote a procedure for how to make the sandwich, and I followed the directions as we wrote it, to make sure we didn't leave anything out. Finally, Ms. Fazenda and I made sandwiches for all of the students to enjoy. So much fun! via Instagram http://ift.tt/2e78lOS

The latest from our class Instagram account - outdoor classroom dedication

A #latergram from yesterday, when we had an outdoor celebration and dedication of our fabulous new outdoor classroom. We were fortunate enough to have elder Sherry there to help us dedicate the space - it was a cool, windy, and wet day, but she told us that the winds were some of the ancestors 'blowing in' to observe, and that the light rain was helping to cleanse us all. via Instagram http://ift.tt/2dOTUTW
