We were fortunate enough today to have some special guests come into the classroom. Diane from Agriculture In The Classroom came to visit today, and brought along Ed, who is a grain farmer from Starbuck. Ed read a story about how plants grow from seeds (and left a copy for the class - thanks!) and talked to the class about what he does on his farm, while Diane talked to us about all the different things that are made from agricultural products. Then, the students got to grind wheat to make flour, and crush canola to make oil - how cool is that?! After they left, I showed the class a 15-min. NFB film called Grain Elevator. You can watch it below, as well as see some of the photos of our fantastic classroom visit today.

Wow, what a fantastic presentation for grade 3. I am so glad to hear that everyone enjoyed learning about farming. I remember hearing that Mr Hoeppner loves the farm and takes photographs of old wooden grain elevators as a hobby. I wonder if he's shared his pictures with you?
