We're taking the 30x30 Challenge!

In May we are going to be doing the 30x30 Challenge. If you don't know what the 30x30 Challenge is, it is a challenge to go outside for at least 30 extra minutes every day in May. Here are some of the reasons that it is important for us to get outside more:

- people are getting chubbier (or fluffier) because we have more devices like iPads, iPhones, Apple TV, etc. Everyone thinks those things are important, but we think the outdoors are even more important that that! (Kayleigh)
- people are getting sick because they aren't walking outside - they spend their time inside on devices. (Albert)
- you should take the challenge because it reduces your chances of getting a heart attack by 50% and colon cancer by 30% if you spend more time outside. (Connor)
- if you just take a walk outside and get some fresh air, it will help you get more fit, and it will make you more calm. (Avery)
- if you can't go outside because you're in a hospital, you'll feel better and need less pain medication if you have a room where you can see nature from. (Braedon)
- if you don't go outside a lot, you have more chance of getting heart disease. (Brady)
- use electronics less - go outside a lot! (Wesley)

(Teacher's note: Please check out the video and infographic below, from the 30x30 Challenge website, for more information about the challenge. What we will do tomorrow is brainstorm a list of different things that we, as a class, can do outside during the month of May as part of the challenge - I can't wait to share the list with all of you!)
